After studying fine art in the mid 1970’s I went off in a totally different direction
for years until 1991 when I started a walk-in computer based graphic design
business in Finsbury Park, north London.
I always had an interest in photography but like a lot of people I was a happy
party/holiday snapper and never really took it too seriously. As the design
business grew I often worked in tandem with photographers who took the shots
needed for brochures and other advertising based media that I was producing at
the time and I started to take a more serious interest the medium.
I have always appreciated wide open spaces and mountainous regions during my
travels so I suppose this is why I choose to concentrate on photographing this
natural beauty.
For many years I’ve been taking pictures hand-held or using a tripod and
manually stitching the final image using Adobe Photoshop®. This although very
satisfying to do it is very time consuming when managing a large number of files.
Virtually all the images in the galleries were compiled in this way.
In 2013, I decided to try out a GigaPan® Epic Pro motorised head system coupled
with Kolor Autopano Giga stitching software. This enabled me to take more
images and process them resulting in much larger, more detailed panoramas,
most being Gigapixels in size (1,000 megapixels = 1 gigapixel). This enables
viewers to zoom in, often for miles and see objects not visible to the naked eye.
It’s been a learning curve to say the least but I think it’s been worth the struggle.
But that’s for you to decide.
I hope you enjoy viewing the images as much as I did creating them.

My work flow for creating Gigapixel images at the moment is from camera raw to
Adobe Lightroom. Develop them and export as 300dpi TIFF files. These are
exported to Kolor Autopano Giga for preview rendering. Correct bad links if any,
adjust tilt, crop and render to a Photoshop® PSB file.
In Photoshop® I then make final adjustments to light balances/colour and correct
any stitching errors. When finished I then upload it to GigaPan® for viewing.
